Doctor Otto Schaefer working among the Canadian Eskimos “found that the traditional completed family size was three to four children through traditional breastfeeding alone.”  Women aged 30 to 50 years who had traditionally breastfed conceived 20 to 30 months after childbirth.  Remember, that is when they conceived, not when they gave birth.  The younger mothers under 30 years of age who used the baby bottle conceived 2 to 4 months after childbirth (page 85).
